About Me

Well, Hello! My name is Tom and I have been working as an Archaeologist in the UK for the past 12 years give or take.

I originally specialised in Romano-British archaeology with a bachelors degree in Classical and Historical Archaeology from the University of Sheffield. I later built on this with a masters degree in Landscape Archaeology at the University of Sheffield.

Since then I’ve been involved in a great variety of projects for a great variety of clients including the National Trust and Peak District National Park alongside Archaeology and Heritage Companies such as ARS Ltd, TJC Heritage Ltd, Wessex Archaeology, AOC Archaeology and Ecus Ltd. Work I carried out has been the focus of numerous publications and press releases including a brief feature on Digging for Britain on the BBC!

Since setting up Magpie Surveying my goal is to continue to play to my strengths, offering high quality archaeological survey and fieldwork and to continue to enrich my local landscape and community!

If you have questions about commercial or community led archaeological survey or fieldwork, don’t hesitate to contact me!
